Cinnamon Apple Topping

Few brief sentences

INGREDIENTS YOU WILL NEED:

  • Grannysmith or Honeycrisp apples, chopped bite-sized - 1 apple

  • Cinnamon - 1-2 tsp (to taste)

  • Butter - 2 tbsp

  • Brown sugar - 1 tbsp

  • Salt - 1/4 tsp

  • Lemon juice - 1/2 tsp

UTENSILS I’D SUGGEST HAVING:

  • Medium pot

  • Spoon

INSTRUCTIONS:

Preheat? No

  • Melt some butter in your pot over medium heat and add chopped apples, stirring until fully coated

  • Next, add your brown sugar and cook for 2 minutes until the apples have softened slightly. Add your cinnamon and salt.

  • Add lemon juice and stir until sauce has thickened slightly still on medium heat

    • Tip: this mixture could burn easily due to the high sugar content, so keep your heat at medium

  • Once apples are softened to your preference - about 3 minutes for me - remove from heat.

  • Enjoy!

Side bar: if you’re making box pancakes with this as a topping, as I did, use a cheese grater to grate some apple to add to your batter for more apple-y flavor.
